At Kirtilals we have always associated with noble causes such as Women Empowerment and art. As part of our woman empowerment program, we have recruited metric pass girls and trained them with essential skills to enhance their standard of living and be financially independent. At the group level we employ over 6000 women worldwide.
So when Hyderabad born P. V. Sindhu won a silver medal at RIO Olympics, it was logical for Kirtilals to felicitate her.
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu became the first Indian woman to win a silver medal in the Olympics. She entered the semi-finals by scripting a stellar win against former World No. 1 China’s Wang Yihan. Her fierce stroke play and aggressive cross-court returns have been the highlights of her game. She rated her win over the Wang Yihan as one of the best moments of her career.
Sindhu has inherited sportsmanship from her parents who have been volley ball players. Her father is an Arjuna awardee.
To celebrate her contribution at the Olympics, we designed an exclusive souvenir; a miniature badminton racket made of gold and diamonds and presented it to PV Sindhu.
In an informal get together we invited Sindhu’s parents and her coach Pullela Gopichand at our Hyderabad stores.
Fifty of our regular customers were also invited to meet Sindhu and congratulate her.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Suraj Shantakumar, Director- Business Strategy, Kirtilals said, “It is a momentous occasion as we honour PV Sindhu for her achievement that has made the entire nation proud. She is an inspiration for all the women and young athletes who want to contribute to the Indian sports. We would like to thank her for the presence and wish her all the best for future endeavours.”
Receiving the souvenir PV Sindhu said, “It’s an encouragement for every sportsperson to receive recognition for the hard-work and accomplishments. I would like to thank Kirtilals for this appreciation.”
